Knowing What's Really Causing Your Heel Pain


There are many things that can cause heel pain, such as overuse, wearing the wrong shoes, and some medical conditions. Plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, is one of the most common causes of heel pain. Achilles tendinitis, heel spurs, and stress fractures are some other things that can cause heel pain. But it's important to know that heel pain isn't just a physical issue; it can also be a sign of deeper problems like stress, burnout, depression, or other mental health problems.


How to Push Through Heel Pain and Reach Your Goals


Here are some of the best things to do to avoid and treat heel pain:


  1. Buy a good pair of running shoes. Make sure your shoes give your feet enough support and cushioning. Also, you should change your shoes every 300–500 miles.

  2. Stretch before and after your run. Stretching can help loosen up muscles that are too tight and lower the risk of getting hurt. Make sure to stretch your calf muscles and the soles of your feet.

  3. Add exercises for building muscle to your routine: Getting your foot and leg muscles stronger can help you avoid heel pain.

  4. Listen to what your body is telling you. If you start to feel pain, stop and rest. It's better to skip a few runs than to push through the pain and risk getting hurt.

  5. Visit a podiatrist. If you have constant heel pain, it's a good idea to get your feet checked out by a podiatrist. They can help figure out what's causing your pain and give you advice on how to treat it.


Take care of yourself. Running is a great way to improve your physical health, but it's also important to take care of your mental and emotional health. Make sure to take time for yourself and do things like meditate, write in a journal, or spend time with people you care about.
